Providers in the community disability and aged care sector have identified a high demand for increasing education & training for support workers to bridge gaps in knowledge and upskilling.
Affinity Health Solutions is committed to providing theory and practicle sessions focing on best practice.
We provide education to the people who have responsibility for the direct care of participants needing comprehensive understanding of their specific healthcare needs and how it impacts on their lives.
We use designed presentations, consumables and equipment to assist learners obtain relevant, up-to-date information and evidence of learning outcomes are given to you on completion of the training. Education is provided in the comfort of your home, or via the in-Home provider premises or a venue can be arranged for you.

Achieved outcomes gives the learner confidence, skills and knowledge to provide person-centered care and puts them at the centre of care within the interdisciplinary team. We are empowering them to show commitment to participant's care and develop strong professional values.
Acknowledgement of people’s cultural and spiritual beliefs, preferences and rights empowers people to make informed decisions about their care. Affinity Health Solutions education and training framework encapsulates the sum of these. We ensure our information is delivered using The Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) of the five core skills of learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy. We provide every learner with support they need to achieve the learning outcomes or recommend other learning opportunities so they remain integral to your team.
Our caring and qualified registered nurses will meet with you, your guardian, your family to understand the training needs. We also do combined sessions with therapists to give learners comprehensive knowledge and skills using Occupational Health and Safety principles and legislative requirements.

All the modules are delivered as Non-accredited Training with learners receiving a Certificate of Attendance.
Our modules meet the requirements for High Intensity Support Skills as defined by the NDIS Practice Standards and include critical areas of:

Basic anatomy and physiology related to learning topics (Included in all training sessions)

Skin care including identification and prevention of pressure injuries using pressure relieving principles (4 hours)

Care of a person with complex continence, how to identify symptoms and risks of infections and understanding their role in bladder management including indwelling and suprapubic catheters, and urostomy care (4 hours).

Complex bowel management, the medications and tools including suppositories, mini enemas or Transanal Irrigation (TAI) (e.g. Peristeen). Support workers will use these to assist the participant continue to build capacity (4 hours).

Understanding the signs and symptoms of Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD), how to help the person to manage it and when to call 000 (2 hours).

Stoma - different types and care needed.

Seizure management (4 hours).

Manual Handling - this will be limited by availability of equipment at the chosen venue.

OH&S principles including fire evacuation planning

Wound care - basic dressings and product knowledge

Tracheostomy stoma care including suctioning and dressings

Enteral feeding and medication administration via Nasogastric tube (NGT), Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube (PEG tube) PEG tube care.

Autonomic Dysreflexia (recommended)

Care plans and documentation legal requirements will be discussed for each topic
